Pride & Prejudice is wonderful in the fact that it teaches girls to be patient. Many men will need to be fixed throughout the course of a relationship it seems nowadays. But Darcy realizes his wrongs and fixes them. Girls shouldn’t have to fix men, girls shouldn’t have to beg for men’s attention (that is what the younger sisters teach). Pride & Prejudice amazes me in how easily it can be related to in the modern world.
PRIDE & PREJUDICE - THE 201TH ANNIVERSARY
“Vanity and pride are different things, though the words are often used synonymously. A person may be proud without being vain. Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves, vanity to what we would have others think of us.” -Jane Austen, Pride & Prejudice, January 28th 1813 (Original Publication)
